Menlo Ventures is an American venture-capital firm, in business for roughly half a century, that invests in technology startups. It became a notable name in AI thanks to an unusually bold early bet on Anthropic.

In 2024, when Anthropic was still seen as an underdog, Menlo made what was described as a “bet-the-firm” investment of around 500 million dollars. As Anthropic’s value soared, that stake grew to roughly 14 billion dollars and helped Menlo raise the largest fund in its history.
